CT Skills are now enrolling for 16-18 AAT Accounting Traineeships

We are now enrolling for the 16-18 Accounting Traineeship programme starting in October 2014.

A 16-18 Accounting Traineeship is the bridge to an Apprenticeship or an alternative to the expenses of Higher Education where young people will experience the accountancy sector whilst achieving a qualification to kick start

their career.

A young person will gain endless opportunities to develop their career from level 1 through to level 4 throughout their studies which is accredited by AAT, an leading international accounting membership body.

CT Skills will be holding an Accounting Traineeship Information Day on Wednesday 24th September 2014 at Priory Court, 1 Derby Road, Nottingham, NG9 2TA at 9:30am and 12:45pm.

On the day young people will find out more about the accounting Traineeship and the benefits it will have for a future career in accountancy.

Young people, parents and careers advisors are welcome.

Exploring Creative Technologies

Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies is offering a brand new six month course for January.
The course offers the perfect opportunity to find out more about creative industries and explore areas you would like to develop further while studying at Nottingham’s leading creative technology institute.

You will undertake practical projects in video production, music technology, website development, photography and multi-media. You will also get to participate in Confetti’s exceptional Industry Week and meet professionals and top names from the worlds of TV, Games, Music and Film. By the end of the course you will have produced a portfolio of work to help you progress onto the next level course or find employment.


Level 1 or Level 2 Certificate in Progression.

Education Pathways

Our taster course will provide a good understanding of the creative industries and offers progression onto Confetti’s full-time courses beginning September 2014.

Potential Jobs

The course will provide you with a good grounding in digital media which could lead onto entry level roles in a variety of areas from TV production runner, website content creator to assistant sound recordist or trainee film editor.

Or for a mix of education and employment you may wish to consider Confetti’s Creative and Digital Media Apprenticeship Programme.

Please find attached a poster for our brand new and exciting Work Readiness Course that starts next week.  This course is a series of 5 one day masterclasses designed to support clients become more confident in their application of skills for work.  The course has been developed to allow clients to pick and mix the sessions they feel are most appropriate to them so that the course can be tailored and needs led. 

In order to be eligible for the free funding clients must pick a minimum of 3 sessions to attend, be aged 19+, unemployed and living in Nottinghamshire (City or County).

Wall to Wall are currently working on a new series here for the BBC, provisionally called ‘The Gift.’ The series will help those that would love to be able to either thank or apologise to someone important from their past and we’re keen that the series will tell of some human experiences through the context of historical and current events.

We’re hoping the series will raise awareness on a variety of wider issues and I have been looking into human experiences in the context of social, historical and political migration to see whether there are any instances of people having experienced an act of kindness that they have never forgotten before or after moving toBritain.

Walk the Plank is a production company who are looking for dancers for their spectacular production Spellbound aka Rama and Sita which will be told through shadow play and pyrotechnics. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for dancers to be involved in a unique production which will be taking place on Sunday 20th October for the Diwali Switch on Lights. 

Casting information and times for auditions / rehearsals are in the attached information pack. 

On Thursday 3rd October, you can meet the Director who will provide more information about the production and what they are looking for.

Film making and Oral history project for 16 -24 year olds

We are recruiting people now until Christmas and are planning to run a creative session mid Dec to introduce  people to the project. Let me know if you think there is anything else it would be good to tell people.

Opportunity to be part of a film making and Oral history project for 16 -24 year olds

Illuminate (Nottingham Museum’s young people’s group) are looking for  young people to join them in working on a filmmaking and oral history project.

We will be gathering  and filming  family stories relating to the First World War from different national community groups in Nottingham. Participants will work in groups focusing on different elements of the project such as film making, graphic design, research, oral histories and exhibition design,  allowing you to develop skills in the areas that interest you most.  We will be working with Museum staff and creative professionals such as film makers, graphic and web designers to creatively display these stories as part of the Trent to Trenches exhibition at Nottingham Castle in July 2014.

We will also be planning events and activities to run alongside the exhibition and working towards our Bronze or Silver Arts Award.

The project will run from January 2014 till November 2014, currently Illuminate meet weekly but there will be optional additional sessions

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be involved in a Lantern Parade which will be taking place on Sunday 20th October for the Diwali Switch on Lights as an introduction to the Rama and Sita performance.

The production company will send an artist to deliver a workshop over two days to teach you how to create lanterns for the parade.  The workshops will be free of charge and will include all materials.
